National Assessment Governing Board: Upcoming Meetings and Why Parents Should Attend
Opportunities to submit comments to the organization that oversees the "Nation's Report Card" and to attend its meetings
I want to bring your attention to a series of public meetings of U.S. Department of Education’s (USDOE) National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB), which oversees the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP, the “Nation’s Report Card”).
When: November 20–21, 2025 (hybrid: in-person + virtual). The meetings are open to the public and written comments may be submitted in advance.
Why This Matters for Students Who Have Disabilities
- NAEP results help shape understanding of how students are doing in key subjects. This can influence policy, school accountability, and resource priorities.
- For students who have disabilities, accurate assessment, valid measurement, and proper reporting is important and ensuring they’re included in national reporting of student data is vital.
- These meetings offer a public forum for input and learning.
