By the evening of Oct. 19, 2026, U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) case resolution database displayed 209 case resolutions for 2026, 118 of which involved disability discrimination.
The increase follows a sharp decline a few days earlier, with resolutions falling below the number posted in June 2026.
June 30, 2026, the database listed 83 case resolutions for 2026, 45 of which involved disability discrimination. July 21, 2026, those totals had increased to 92 and 52. By Aug. 27, 2026, the totals reached 130 and 75. However, by October 16, 2026, the totals dropped to 76 and 38.
The increase doesn’t establish that every previously missing case has returned or that every document link works, nor do they show which entries are completely new to the database. Special Education Action will go through the listing to compare what’s been added and will continue writing articles about the findings.
Final Words
At this point, an explanation from OCR on why the listings fell won’t change anything. It would go a long way, though, if OCR could ensure they stay up and parents, educators, and students have access to the findings.
